Barbados Beaches and Horse Swimming
Visitors to Barbados can have a truly unique experience at one of Barbados’ best kept secrets, 'Swimming of the horses at Carlisle Bay". Sunday is the best day to watch the horses swimming or having a ‘sea bath’ as locals usually say. The majority of the horses swimming come from the Barbados Turf Club which is located just up the road, the trainers prefer to swim the horses as it keeps them fit and minimizes injuries.
Visitors only need come down to Pebbles Beach in front of the Barbados Cruising Club around 5 – 5:30am in the morning to witness these beautiful creatures playing in the sand and swimming out through the boats in the bay. Feel free to interact with the horses and grooms, they are both usually happy meet tourists and pose for a picture. Definitely a great memory to carry home after your trip to Barbados.
