10 Tips to be Crop Over Ready!

1. Plan ahead - book your flights and accommodation (see our list below) in advance – this is always a busy time on the island.

2. Stay for 7 days + there are many parties before Grand Kadooment Day and you will want to stay a few days after to cool down at the beach or the pool at your villa.

3. Spread out your parties – choose a boat cruise, a concert, a J’ouvert event and Kadooment Day of course! Make the most of the experience.

4. Purchase your party tickets and costume in advance – first choose the band you hope to jump with e.g. Blue Box Cart or Aura then choose your section. Tickets always sell out so act fast. 

5. It’s all included - Each band will offer different experiences and packages. Usually, the price includes your costume, free drinks on the road, security, DJ’s and live performances on the music trucks, an event cup and other goodies from sponsors. You can choose to upgrade to food packages, AC lounges, bathroom passes and more.

6. Learn the songs ahead of time – Stream the latest Crop Over playlist so you will be ready for the road. Here is a link to some 2022 releases.

7. Prep the night before – lay out your costume and day of essentials (sneakers, cup, sunblock or hat, bag with cash, phone and any medication) and set your alarms, Kadooment Day is an early start. 8. Pace yourself – Crop Over is non-stop action, get rest between parties, eat some good Bajan food to prevent burning out. Build up your stamina by going for walks or hitting the gym the months leading up – the 10K route takes about 6-7 hours at the ‘chipping’ pace with lots of dancing along the way.

9. Hydrate - drink a lotttt of water throughout the day. You will be in the sun for 7 hours and likely drinking alcohol too. Please do not make the rookie mistake of not drinking water between every alcoholic drink.

10. Make time to relax and enjoy the island – Barbados has so much to see and do. We recommend booking a cool down catamaran or relaxing at one of the many white sandy beaches between parties.
